Electric ovens, stoves, ceramic and induction hobs and built-in ovens repaired at your home. Not heating, tripping the power, burning food or showing an error? We fix it safely and quote before we start.

In short

Apex HVAC repairs electric ovens, stoves and hobs from all major brands across Gqeberha, Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, St Francis Bay, Kariega and Kenton-on-Sea. Common repairs include oven and plate elements, thermostats, selector switches, simmerstats, fan motors, door seals, terminal blocks, clocks and control boards. Safety checks are part of every job.

Oven and stove faults we fix

Oven not heating

The most common call. Usually a burned-out bake or grill element, a faulty thermostat, a selector switch fault or a broken connection. On fan ovens, the fan element or fan motor may have failed.

Oven heating unevenly or burning food

A faulty thermostat that lets the oven run too hot, a failed fan motor so heat is not distributed, or one of several elements not working.

Stove plates not working

A failed solid plate or radiant element, a faulty simmerstat (the control switch for each plate), or a burnt connection behind the stove.

Plate only works on high

A classic simmerstat fault. The control switch is stuck and cannot regulate the temperature.

Tripping the power

Moisture in an element, a damaged element, a burned terminal block or a wiring fault. A stove that trips the earth leakage should be switched off and tested.

Ceramic or induction hob zones not working

Failed radiant elements, faulty switches or touch controls, power board faults on induction hobs, or overheating protection.

Clock, timer or display faults

Many ovens will not heat if the clock has not been set or is in an error state, especially after a power cut. Clocks and timers can also be damaged by surges.

Door not closing properly

Worn hinges or a damaged door seal let heat escape, so the oven struggles to reach temperature and the controls get hot.

Burning smell or scorch marks

Overheating connections behind the stove or at the terminal block. Switch off at the isolator and call us.

Freestanding and built-in

We repair freestanding stoves with ovens and plates, built-in under-counter and eye-level ovens, separate ceramic, solid-plate and induction hobs, and compact and combination ovens. Built-in ovens need careful removal from the cabinetry. We protect your kitchen and refit the units securely.

Safety first

Ovens and stoves are high-power appliances, usually wired directly to a dedicated circuit through an isolator switch. Faults can involve high currents and overheating. That is why:

  • We isolate the appliance before working on it
  • We check terminal blocks and connections for heat damage
  • We test elements and wiring for insulation faults that could cause shocks or tripping
  • We tell you if we find a problem with the household wiring or isolator, which may need a registered electrician

Please never try to repair a stove while it is connected to power.

How a repair visit works

1. Tell us the problem. Call or WhatsApp with the symptoms and a photo of the model sticker, usually inside the oven door frame or on the side of the drawer. 2. Diagnosis. We test elements, switches, thermostats and connections. 3. Quote first. You get the price before any work starts. 4. Repair and test. We repair, test heating and safety, and clean up. 5. Guarantee. Our workmanship is guaranteed in writing.

Is it worth repairing?

Elements, thermostats, switches, simmerstats, door seals and fan motors are affordable parts, so most ovens and stoves are well worth repairing. Built-in ovens in particular are expensive to replace and fit, which makes repair the clear choice in most cases. Control board and induction power board repairs cost more, and we will give you an honest view on older models.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my oven not heat after a power cut?

Many ovens will not heat until the clock is set again. Set the time or press the manual or cooking mode button. If it still does not heat, the element, thermostat or clock may be faulty.

Why does my stove trip the power?

Usually moisture in an element, a damaged element or a burned connection. Repeated tripping is a safety warning, so switch the stove off at the isolator and have it tested.

Can you repair induction hobs?

Yes, we repair induction and ceramic hobs, including touch controls and power boards.

Do you repair gas stoves?

We work on electric appliances. Gas appliances should be handled by a registered gas practitioner.
