A lock-up checklist for Kenton homes

When you leave your Kenton home for an extended period, a few minutes per appliance prevents most of the problems we are called out for:

• Aircons: clean the filters and switch off at the isolator if you have no surge protection.
• Fridge and freezer: either empty, clean, dry and prop the doors open, or leave running on a delayed-restart surge protector with only drinks inside.
• Washing machine: leave the door and detergent drawer open, clean the pump filter and close the tap.
